New Forest Disabled Driving Group
2010
Update

2010 has been another busy and
successful year for the group
although we were saddened to accept the
resignations of Paul and Rachel
as Chairman and Treasurer in the early part of the season.
This also meant the loss of both Crag and Bonney.

However the group has continued to flourish.
Beauty owned by Tracey and Jason Rook has been
a very welcome new recruit to our pony ranks,
joining Ben, Gully and Flame.

.

We are very keen to find another suitable pony
for the 2011 season
to bring our numbers back up to five or even better six!!
as we also saw the retirement of Merlin this season after many years with the group.

During 2010
we also welcomed a number of new members
to the group
- both helpers and disabled drivers
but now hold a waiting list for disabled drivers
because of our pony situation.

A large contingent in August took the opportunity to join
the IOW Group for a drive in the grounds of Osborne House.

The weather was fairly kind to us throughout the season
and some new venues -
Standing Hat and Boldreford Bridge
proved very popular.

The group has also been fortunate to receive some
very generous donations from local organisations-
LEGs Ladies Evening Group (Everton)
raised £900 over the year

Most recently we had our first social meet of
the winter at Bashley village hall.
The meeting got of to a wonderful start
with a presentation of a cheque
from the Broadstone Masonic Lodge for £1000.
This was followed by a riveting and amusing talk
from Caroline Douglas recounting her early introduction to driving.

During the afternoon members
were also able to purchase
Christmas cards featuring Flame
with his sleigh and desktop calendars
featuring the group ponies- both past and present.

The cards and calendars will be available again at the
Christmas party on Dec 8th.

These can be purchased from Suzanne

Suzannekempe@uwclub.net

The NF Countryside Alliance invited us as their Charity
for the Host a Roast  in October.
This was a tremendous success with an excellent turnout including thirty of our own members
and a cheque for £400 was presented
to our President Audrey Williams
at the end of the evening.
